Hey could you please let me know how PVSol calculates Return on Assets (Gesamtkapitalrendite). I have checked the Financial analysis in the PVSol Help but could not find any formula that PVSol uses to calculate it. Danke!!

Hello, I had a problem today with the specific annual yield calculation. I planned twice a PV plant with different load profile, but the devices (Inverter, Modules, Batteries) remained unchanged. Surprisingly the specific annual yield changed. Do you have any explanation why the specific annual yield is function of - or at least is influenced by - consumption? Thanks in advance Kamal

Hey, is it possible to enter the cost of Modules, inverter, optimizer and substructure manually ? as sometimes companies have deals with component suppliers and may actually get them at cheaper rates than the market rate, the electricity generation cost varies

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to see shade frequency over short period. This is calculated shade frequency for my system. It is possible to show shade frequency only for one month? So I a can see influence of shading in winter/summer? Thanks, Filip.

Hi, I am working on project where I want to see influence on my PV system caused by new building. I can see very good shadow visualization in 3D editor. But in results when I create graph of shading, the values do not look as I expect. I found out that the program calculates with typical year mean climate values, but I would like to see actual influence of shading objects without weather data. It is possible in PVSOL to import "clear sky" climate data? So I can see only shading influence of shading objects. Thanks, Filip

I have made a 3d model of a building and now i want to change the texture of the building sides to some real pictures of the building. THere are four sides of the building, but on the building it does not say which side latera surface 1,2,3,4 is. Woudl it be possible for this number to be visible on the building from the surface perspective so i dont have to guess which side of the building that i am replaceing the surface on? Or is there a logical explanation on which the laterals numbers sides are? F,e Lateral surface is always the most northern one and so on.

Good Morning, After selecting the PVSol study site, when we are going to do the 3D Modeling of the project, the pre-selected location does not appear. Choosing the "Map Clipping" option does not show anything on the screen, and when zooming out, the system positions itself next to Africa. Is it possible to solve this software bug?

i am using a student version of PV Sol. the application throws an error during the simulation when i am trying to mount the modules. I have to restart the application every time anyone encountered similar problem and figured out a solution? i am using latest version by the way

Hi, I have re-run a project and seen a large change in losses. It has all been a bit confusing but I will try to explain. 1. original - run on R7 Module independent shading = 0% Reflection on the Module Interface = -2.95% 2. Re-run on R8 - no changes to building or shading objects, global radiation the same as before. Module independent shading = -2.00% Reflection on the Module Interface = -3.54% 3. Moved nearby buidling then relocated building in place, re-run on R8 Module independent shading = 0% Reflection on the Module Interface = -0.74% Let me know who to send the file…

Hi PVSol team. I have 2 issues I need your help with. I will put them on seperate posts to keep things simple. Starting with the easy one - Can you explain why we have this problem again? There is nothing obvious in the release notes to explain. It isn't a major problem as the yield hasn't change on any projects I have re-run. It is annoying however to have to re-enter the location and the specific cable details especially on projects with lots of inverters. Thanks James

Hi! I have some problem when I try to activate the mounting surfaces on my 3D model (dae-format from SketchUp). The buildning has two roofs at different levels which I want to place panels on. However, after importing the 3D model and pressed "edit" --> "Determine mounting area automatically" only the walls of the buildning and the top roof gets activated. The lower roof (which is the biggest one) dosen't get highlighted or open to continue to design/place panels on. Is there any way to manually choose which areas that activates? I would be very thankful if someone could help me woth this problem.

As a double check I run my own Excel calculation and when comparing that to the PV Sol calculation I find a difference which I hope you can explain. Please look at the attached file; Financial Analysis; First year saving. SEK 5.233,68 Then look at the cash flow Table year 1; Electricity saving. SEK 5.131,06 Should´t these two figures be the same? I have 0 in all inflation rates to eliminate that as an explanation. Next Total Payment from Utility in First year is SEK 6.037,03 I would expect that to be equivalent to Feed-in / Export Tariff in the Cashflow table or ? Regards,

i have modules facing two directions - south west and south east. i can go for different inverters for different orientations but when i am trying to connect all the modules together i do not see an option to select different inverters for Eg: i can select two solaredge SE 25k inverters but what i want is 1 SE 33.3k and 1 SE 10k. please suggest how to proceed

Hello everyone I'm looking for a good source of information for solar panel software. My dad's company has been relying on an external service to do the calculations and drawing of the solar designs, but he wants to do it himself because the external service asks loads of money and are sometimes 2 weeks late with their reports. We use the solmetric suneye device to measure shadow, this data can be imported to the solmetric software called PV designer. However, PV designer is not that great. There's no auto-filling the roof you drew if it's not a rectangle, there's no option for custom no-module zone (only rectangle or circle) and it hasn't been updated in half a year…
