Actually I work on effect of MPP range on total energy yield and now I use trial version of PVSOL to check whether the software gives expected results or not. Minutely simulations are supposed to seize the instantaneous voltage drops on PV arrays due to momentary low irradiance values that exist quite frequently in cloudy weathers. Hi! I was very surprised when comparing two simulations for two different PV-panels. The two is Conergy PowerPlus 260 Watt and JA-solar polychristallin 260 Watt. The production difference were 5%. I looked in to the database and found the reason. It was the IAM. For Conergy the parameter was set to 95% and for JA 98%. What is the origin of these kind of parameters? It is taken from an extended datasheet? Or else? The funny thing is that my experience says that the Conergy panel is producing more compared to the JA panel in lower irridance. Some who knows? Do you know how to find the best angle and the best orientation for solar panel according to the location ? For example, I am in Bogota, and I want to know what is the best angle and orientation for maximizing the energy along the year. Or for maximizing the energy during the worst month of the year. And so on ? Do you now if there is any function in PV Sol and if not, do you know if I can find it on internet ? Hi friends: I would like to ask about some improvements in the Dimensioning Plan. As you can see in the picture below it is almost impossible to understand the measures for the pv generator. Hello, I have developed my first design using 3D Design feature and so I am really not acquainted with this features on the report. I did some tests and no matter what the spacing between rows I apply I always get the same "Yield reduction due to shading", in this case 16.3%, this parameter is calculated based on what? My initial row spacing calculation was 1.64 m and effectively it had some partial shading on the pannels, shade frequency about 2.7%, I have now increased the distance up to 4 meters, there is no shading on the pannels and I still get the same results. I have a question I have a pv sol premium 7.5 can I upgrade to 2016 with the same license ?

Has anyone had a try of PVsol 2016? All the new features seem unstable and hard to use. I was told that 2016 would use Sketchup for 3d modelling which would have been amazing. Is it possible to import buildings from Sketchup? Hopefully the glitches will get worked out but even then I don't think the new features look useful. James

Hi Everyone I had been working a lot with PVSol Premium 7,5 (R4) with the 3D, but today the program started with some problems during the View Presentation process. The thing is the programs stays in a loop..., and the view presentation doesn´t work... The same thing ocurrs if I use the PVSol Pro Standalone tool. When I want to simulate the system, the program has the same problem. It could be a program failure or could be another problem? I don´t know if it is possible to reinstall the program, because I´m very concern about the problem and I´ve been restarting the computer a lot of times. Thanks and regards, Boris.

Hi, I would like to conduct an analysis of fixed tilt Photovoltaic array. I need a weather file for particular location. It can not be found in the PV*SOL Climate data. But Meteonorm has it. The problem is that this Meteonorm weather file does not contain data about snow depth nor albedos. I was wondering if I could approximate this by somehow defining an albedo to be 0.6 (ground covered with wet snow) in cases when air temperature is bellow some value. Which value would that be? Hi. I was wondering how does the PV SOL apply the light transmission factors (degrees of transmittance)? I understand that when it comes to solar thermal systems and T SOL, the light transmission factors are used to reduce the amount of solar radiation passing through a tree object. But what about PV SOL? If I understood correctly when checking for horizon shading for PV systems, it is shading of the actual AC output that is taken into account, not the solar radiation. That is: if certain portion of the horizon is shaded by an obsutrction tree the AC output that this certain portion of the horizon yields is subracted from the overall annual AC output. To understand the impact of shading I have run the same system with and without shading. The reports show a slight increase in yield with shading, The shaded system shows a loss from shading more than made up for by increase in low light performance. The seems wrong, has anyone else experienced this? any tips to understand why this happens?
