	Hello,<br />
	<br />
	I am completely new to the software and struggling with FAQ and first steps. <br />
	<br />
	Successfully created a testing environment and created multiple houses but the software will only let me place solar panels on the ground and not on roofs.<br />
	Probably something really simple but neither Google search nor FAQs could help. <br />
	<br />
	How do I tell the software that I want to place solar panels on roofs?<br />
	<br />
	Sorry this probably sounds really stupid and I am not a native English speaker. Just really frustrated after multiple hours into test project and search and not being able to find a solution ...<br />
	<br />
	THANK YOU for your help!

	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	If I import HH data into PVSol, does it use this when calculating self-consumption with an hourly simulation, or does it add the 2 HHs together and use hourly data?
</p>

<p>
	Further to the above, is the formula used to calculate self-consumption % simply 'if consumption is greater than PV output then 100%, if not then = consumption/pv output'? This would essentially assume that PV output and site demand is completely flat for each simulation period.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks,

	Hello everyone,
</p>

<p>
	I am currently working on a university project involving an existing large rooftop PV system.
</p>

<p>
	The system consists of more than 13,000 PV modules in total, distributed across many strings, existing generator junction boxes (GAK) and inverter units.
</p>

<p>
	Due to a requirement from a regulatory authority, several modules in the upper roof rows have to be removed because they extend beyond the roof ridge. As a result, parts of the existing PV generator field must be redesigned to remain compliant while minimizing energy losses.
</p>

<p>
	My task is not to design a completely new PV system from scratch. Instead, I have to evaluate and optimize an existing installation after the removal of several hundred modules.
</p>

<p>
	The project includes:
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		<p>
			analysis of the existing PV generator field,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			development and comparison of different retrofit solutions,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			redesign of the string layout,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			reassignment of strings to existing generator junction boxes (GAK),
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			verification of electrical constraints such as string voltage, current, inverter limits and MPPT operating range,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			evaluation of whether existing cabling can continue to be used,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			consideration of possible shading effects,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			adaptation of the existing string monitoring system,
		</p>
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			and comparison of the technical and economic impacts of different solutions.
		</p>
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	My question is:
</p>

<p>
	Would PV*SOL Premium be a suitable tool for checking and validating such retrofit variants?
</p>

<p>
	Or is this type of task usually better done manually, for example by using the existing string plans, module and inverter datasheets, Excel calculations, and separate electrical checks?
</p>

<p>
	I am especially interested in how such retrofit projects are normally handled in practice:
</p>

<p>
	Do engineers usually model the modified system in software, or do they mainly redesign the strings manually and then verify voltage, current and inverter limits separately?
</p>

<p>
	I would be very grateful for any practical experience or recommendations.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you very much.
</p>

<p>
	Hi all together!
</p>

<p>
	What's the best way to consider PV systems built on a water body in PV*SOL? So far, there is no opportunity to take lower temperatures (1-3°) and therefore higher energy yields (5-10%) of the PV systems on water within PV*SOL into consideration. The only way I've thought of so far is to change the ambient temperature at the destination to the targeted- For example, if we have Berlin with mean temperatures of 12° over the year, I could decrease the temperature to 10°. However, this seems to be quite inaccurate to me and I would like to ask for another idea how to handle that problem. Additionally, it is quite complicated to create your own climate data file, which is why there probably must be another solution?<br><br>
	Thanks for any answer.
</p>

<p>
	Best, Manuel

	Hello ! Im a old user if PVSol and I can't use the actual version with my perpetual licence of PVSOL (bought in 2018). Is it possible to have a link to the version with which I can use it(or another solution), please.

	<span>Hello, can someone help me configure the Feed-in Concept so that it matches the current principles for calculating the kWh price in Croatia (new rules effective from January 1, 2026)?</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>According to these rules, if the consumer takes less energy from the grid than they send to it, the price of the exported energy is €0.085/kWh.</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>If the consumer sends more energy to the grid than they consume from it, then the price of the exported energy is calculated using the formula:</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>0.085 × (consumed / exported)</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>Thank you in advance.</span>

	Hello, we regularly use inverters that have different input current and power limits. In real life, there are 10 trackers, with all even number trackers having 42A input and all odd number trackers having 36A input. However, on PVSOL, the database entry as trackers 1-5 at 42A and 6-10 at 36A - meaning our stringing layouts are not accurate.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I've looked at duplicating the entry to change it, but it only lets you choose how many of the trackers are at each input, not which trackers it applies to - is this something that can be done so we can accurately string these inverters?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks

	I have an off-grid system with a battery. This battery doesn't require its own inverter; it uses the main inverter. How can I design this in the software? The problem is that the software requires a battery with its own inverter, which isn't my case. I want to model a system with a Goodwe GW5K-ES-LD-G10 inverter and a Goodwe LX A5.0/30 battery.

	Can PV Sol calculate what size system would best match a consumption pattern if, for example, you want a self-consumption rate of 80%?
</p>

<p>
	I have attached a project where I am trying to determine how many panels and what size inverter would be optimal for this setup if the customer wants a self-consumption share of 80%. At the moment, I am basically just testing different configurations.
</p>

<p>
	Another question regarding this project: you can see that I have installed batteries—5 units of 5.12 kWh each. This results in a self-consumption rate of 66.4%.
</p>

<p>
	Has AI control for charging and discharging the batteries been included in the calculation? With AI control, wouldn’t the self-consumption rate be expected to increase further?

	Hi
</p>

<p>
	On larger commercial batteries, they have an HVAC system to maintain battery temperature within safe limits.
</p>

<p>
	These are usually AC coupled batteries, such that you have a normal string inverter (eg. Fronius Symo 10kW) and a 50kW 215kWh battery, with the battery's 50kW allowing power in and out of the battery to increase self consumption. Not many configurations have PV strings going to the battery
</p>

<p>
	Is the consumption of HVAC simulated in PVSol? There could be night time power consumption due to the battery.
</p>

<p>
	Where would I put this information in? I know inverters can have night consumption, could i add an inverter with no strings connected for this usecase?
</p>

<p>

</p>

	Is it possible to set up charging of an electric vehicle from the battery system as well? In the results, the value for EV charging from batteries is always 0. The system charges from the grid even when there is enough energy in the batteries to charge the EV.
