Hi I'm trying to model a project with a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The client pays £0 upfront for their system, instead the PPA provider funds the system and charges the building owner a cost per unit of electricity to purchase what they've generated. For example they generate 100,000kWh/yr, consume 80,000kWh/yr which they are charged £0.15/kWh therefore the system costs them £12,000/year. After a set period of time. e.g. 20years, they own their system and no longer pay these charges. The building owner stills purchases electricity from the grid at their usual cost. I can see there's options to add a loan, but a PPA is a different funding …

  2. I am currently working on a project using PV*SOL and I need to include more than one auxiliary diesel generator in the system. However, I'm facing challenges with the software not allowing the addition of multiple generators. Could someone guide me on how to configure the system to include multiple auxiliary generators? Any insights or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated

  3. Hello, i made Trina TSM-NEG18R.28 module to PVsol, I looks fine, but when I rotate to horizontal, the cells stay square and do not fill module area: What to do?

Hi, I am trying to finish one of my projects and cabling was mostly done automatically. However, for some reason one roof (flat) did not cable (even though string is as it should be). When I try to cable manually, there is no option to put cable on grommel anywhere - in fact, I cannot make any cabling manually for any roof type. Please see attached photo of a Cable Plan menu where there are no visible options that usually are, such as Cable, Cable Nodes etc. Why is that? How I can finish the project? Thank you. Best regards, Rok

Hello. can i have some guidance on how to input export limitation on a design and how to know its reading right on a report. my design has an install a generation capacity of 170kW, but the export has to be limited to 40kW. I've added the 40kw on the AC main options to set the limitation, but on the report its still showing a lot of export back to the grid. i would assume it would only be showing the 40kw going back into the grid but in kwh? Hi , I’m looking to fit more modules into a project, but I’m receiving a message indicating the maximum limit is capped at 10,000 modules for the roof. Could you advise if there’s any way to increase this limit, or perhaps an alternative approach to accommodate the additional modules? Thank you Best regards, Mohamed Yousif

  7. Hi, For some reason i cannot get the toolbar visible which can be seen in the red circle highlighted on the second picture. Does anyone experience the same and have a solution? Im running Win 11 OS. Thanks in advance

Hi, I have modelled a PV system in PVSol Premium, and have carried out shading analysis, I want to export the shading data based on individual module, time and date, could some one help me with this?

  9. Hello, I was editing the 'module allocations' (string layouts) of a few inverters & managed to accidentally remove some modules from their inverters. I think I clicked 'manual selection' which somehow unassigned them from their inverters. I have tried to find a way to reassign them to their inverters without deleting the entire string layout, as it has taken a long time to get this far. Could you please advise how I can reassign them? If I click configure I can only manage to assign them to a new inverter. Thanks, Haydn

Hello, We would like to dimension a battery for a client in PV-Sol. However, we have the quarter-hour values (15-minute intervals) for both power consumption and injection current. We've overlaid these values, resulting in a negative number when injection occurs. Since we now know our injection values, we want to specify a battery to see what efficiency it can provide. However, in PV-Sol, I’m required to input solar panels as well, and the software cannot handle negative values. Is there a solution for this? Thank you

  13. I have seen in the below link that PVSol has decided not to calculate the radiation gains of bifacial panels for inclination angles lower than 10 degrees. Will this be considered in the future? This affects one of my model for a carport with a 7-degree inclination. It is a big system (almost 1MWp) in which the gained radiation might make a difference, as I try to optimise the system to export as minimum electricity as possible. For others cases with elevation between 10 and 80 degree, how is the rear albedo calculated? Is it possible to input this value? Thanks https://forum.valentin-software.com/topic/1325-wrong-amount-of-pv-generator-energy-ac-grid/

If I remember, before I could have info of production per every building. Now I cant seem to find that info anywhere. I have more than 30 covered areas but they would all be one system, and since its planning phase, we need info of energy export for every building so we can decide which buildings are worth to have PV. Please tell me there is way to know this information without drawing every building separately.

Hello PV*Sol community and team, I'm having an issue with 'on roof' projects that are relatively large as hangers, halls, multiple roofs and so on, there is no possible way to take a high quality representable picture of the whole roof/project. Either taking a photo of only a part of the project with high quality modules texture or having the whole project / roof in frame but with heavily compromised modules texture quality. I have designed something as an example and I'm looking forward for your thoughts on it.

Good morning I should enter the technical specifications of a new photovoltaic module into the database. How should I do this? Kind regards Roberto Vanin

  18. I have come in to an issue with the MPP trackers for the Ginlong (Solis) inverters example i have used 100kW 5G inverter the inverter has 16 MPP ports on it but the software on states 10 this is causing issues for my team. the S5-GC60kW has 12 MPP's and the software only states 6 again causing issues for my team and the set up. how can i edit these so i can configure correctly?

Hello, I hope you are well. My question is, I wanted to expand an existing solar system, at the moment there are 8 480Wp modules with a 6 Kw inverter with only one string used. I now wanted to expand the system with newer 580Wp modules up to the maximum of this inverter. But I don't understand how I do this in the software, inserting 2 different modules for the same inverter. Thank you

Hello everyone, I would like to ask a question about importing climate data. I have my own minutely measured climate data as an excel file and I want to import this measured climate data to PVSOL. As I know, there are 3 available file formats which are: - *.xlm - *.dat - *.wbv Now my question is as follows: How can I rearrange my measured climate data to use it in the simulation. I mean how many columns and rows are necessary and which column correspond to irradiance or temperature etc. I hope I express my problem clearly. Thank you

  21. Started by Chris Lear,

I am setting up a BESS system in PVSOL and I see from the report that the batteries are not cycling. How do I get the system to include cycling of the battery. The report shows a cycle load of 0.5% which tells me they not cycling.

  22. Started by RaW,

I'm interested in viewing the data that is downloaded via Meteosyn for any given location. Is it possible to view the .wbv files? I realise that I can download simulation results (hourly values) from a finished design, but I'm trying to look at the data in its initial, raw format if possible. Thank you.

  23. Started by A.A,

In climate data, Metosyn picks up the altitude by itself after generating weather data by longitude latitude. Some locations, it picks up the accurate altitude but for some locations, it shows 0m which is wrong compared to realistic altitude data. Why is it so? Secondly, is there any way we can adjust that altitude for specific longitude and latitude?

  25. When using an inclined mounting system with a 10° tilt, and a roof angle of 4°: According to the energy report so: In the energy report, I’m unable to find the roof angle; it only shows the system angle for both east and west orientations. If the mounting system is set to 10°, then theoretically, the east-facing panels should be at 14° and the west-facing panels at 4°. However, the report instead shows one side at 14° and the other at 6°. How can I resolve this discrepancy? The roof angle isn’t visible in the energy report—could this be adjusted in the settings?
