Ricardo
Hi, I was wondering, is there an option to undo changes in PV SOL, other than not saving and simply opening the last saved version of your file? Something in the line of Ctrl+Z in MS Office. Thanks!

developer_mm
Hi Ricardo, Unfortunately there is no undo function at this moment. We are aware of that missing feature. Sadly, an undo is very difficult to implement in existing code which is not prepared for this kind of action. Kind regards, Marcel

developer_mm
Hello Remu, We know that this is a very demanded feature. Unfortunately, it will not be implemented in the near future. Kind regards, Marcel
Supportcenter EWS
Hi Marcel Please tell us when the function undo will be implemented in the New Version PV SOL Premium 2020. We are not willing to pay for maintenance and updates every year if essential functions such as undo are still missing. Greetings from Supportcenter EWS
developer_mh
Dear Supportcenter EWS, as Marcel pointed out, we are aware of the fact that this feature is highly demanded by our customers. And be sure that we are not holding it back artificially. The undo function is quasi-impossible to implement in the existing code of the 3D environment. It would make it necessary to restructure the whole code from scratch. And since we are working on a completely new version of the 3D environment, it wouldn't make sense to rebuild the old version from scratch. We hope this is comprehensible. As a workaround against the worst cases of work loss we introduced the autosave feature some versions ago. With this you can jump back to earlier versions of your project if something unexcepted or undesired happened to your project. I know this isn't a full replacement for the undo function, but at least it avoids the loss of data or long hours of work. Quote We are not willing to pay for maintenance and updates every year if essential functions such as undo are still missing. I am sorry to hear that. While we are always trying to produce the best simulation and planning software that is possible with our resources, we can't avoid that single customers aren't satisfied. If you want to stop using PV*SOL you can just refrain from extending your maintanance contract the next time. Kind regards, Martin
BartlomiejS
Without UNDO functionality - working in 3d is extremely frustrating. I hope that will change before everyone goes to a different design software.
developer_fw
Hello BartlomiejS, unfortunately this functionality is not existing. We know this is very important and could be a deal breaker, but as stated before the current 3D planning environment won't get this update. Our new 3D design tool currently in development has this functionality already built in. Best regards, Frederik
Ralf
and WHEN will the new 3D design is planned to be rolled out? "As a workaround against the worst cases of work loss we introduced the autosave feature some versions ago. With this you can jump back to earlier versions of your project if something unexcepted or undesired happened to your project. " I'm afraid, this is not really helpful. In my understanding, the automatically autosave feature overwrites the originally file, doesn't it? So, if I will try, a.e., another modul type or another inverter, and I won't save this, the autosave will save this. So I can't jump back by closing file without saving, as I do it now (after disabeling autosave)
developer_mh
Hi Ralf, we don't have a release date for the new 3D environment yet, and we hope on your understanding that it'll take quite a bit more time until we are ready. The autosave feature is not overriding your existing file, you will have one separate autosave file for each autosave action. So you can really go back in time when opening the various autosave files of one project. As such, it helps at least a little to compensate the lack of the Undo function. Ralf
Thanks, I'll try it. I had disabled the autosave since a long time, because it gives always an unexpected break during work, for some seconds.
