  1. I am using TSOL with configuration A7.1 - DHW thermosyphon system with electric water heater to model a thermosiphon system. In the simulation report, I am trying to understand what "DHW heating energy requirement" and "Annual energy requirement" represent. Observations: For large loads, both values are displayed and are equal, and in some cases they are different but nearly equal For smaller loads, the "DHW heating energy requirement" disappears from the report entirely. Only "Annual energy requirement" remains My questions: What do these two fields actually represent? The difference does not appear to be losses, since…

  2. Hello, I am working with the A13 – Buffer tank system with process heating configuration in T*SOL. I would like to know if it is possible to vary the buffer tank temperature and the process supply/return temperatures depending on the season within a single annual simulation. Specifically: In winter: buffer tank at 60°C, supply 45°C, return 35°C In summer: buffer tank at 90°C, supply 90°C, return 70°C Is there a way to define seasonal temperature settings (for example using time profiles or control functions), or is creating separate variants the only recommended approach? Thank you for your help.

Hi, When adding a new location I get a warning that says that the climate data file was not found even though I've hit the update database button and that a file for this location appears in the List tab. What can I do to troubleshoot? Thanks.

Is there a training I can take--or videos of previous trainings--to understand the T*Sol program better? Or is there a manual I should read?

  5. Started by Nico Randrianarison,

Good morning everyone, So I'm new in this forum part, but I have already used the TSOL software, and I would like to have opinion about what we should do for the following project : We would like to have hot water at 40°C about 313K to do some treatment in a factory, but we won't use hot water tank because of the price, and also we won't need it because the water will be directly used. The temperature of the water at the beginning will be about 15°C or 288K, and we want volumetric flow rate about 1000L/h at 40°C, so here are my questions : - What kind of setup or installation should I use? Could you add some picture please - According to the data tha…

  6. I've just got the test version of this software and it does a lot of great things. However I am running up against one issue, which is that the solar system I input seems to be underperforming by a good bit, at least when compared to my "back of the napkin" calculations. And I think I may have found the issue. So I thought I'd lay out what I'm seeing, see if someone with more experience might offer some insight and either tell me that I'm wrong or tell me that I'm right and how to use the program to account for this. The Problem When I did the "back of the napkin" math (actually it involved a rather large spreadsheet) my solar panels were efficient eno…

This is a small question, and if there's some place I could have been looking (documentation?) for the answer instead of bothering folks on here please do let me know. I'm trying to model a system that uses solar thermal for space heating as well as domestic hot water. I'm currently trying to do this using design A3.2 (DHW system with heating buffer tank and external heat exchanger). I clicked on the design assistant. I click on the definition of consumers tab on the left. Then I click on the space-heating...lets call it a sub-tab under where it says "definition of consumers". There's a check-box where it asks if the space heating energy requirement is known, an…

Do you have a method of calculating a single system with collectors facing different orientations. I am trying to simulate a system with an array of collectors facing east and another array facing west.

Dear all, I am simulating a swimming pool supplied by solar collectors, but I would like to know which equations T*SOL uses to find the results (mainly for the pool losses). Is there any documentation with this data? Thank you! 🙂

  10. I would like to export the simulation results hourly as is possible in PV*SOL. I didn't find it in the manual. It's possible?

Hi, I have a doubt about "numbers of tanks". I don't know if quantity of auxiliar heating equipment increase when I add tanks. I am using A1-DHW system. I want to use this sketch

  12. Why is it that when I add more collectors from a certain installed power, the energy for domestic hot water is less?

The "number of systems" can be interpreted as the number of independent lines, starting from the general tank?

Hi, When modelling a pool in T*SOL, the value for "Daily freshwater demand" should include the amount of water needed to replace water lost through evaporation? or does T*SOL deal with it automatically? Thanks!

  16. Started by Alshimaa Hussien,

Dear Sir/Madam, Can you please clarify whether T*Sol can provide the following services: 1. Calculating stagnation or overheating of collectors or not. 2. The suggested area provided after choosing a certain value for solar fraction, is this area calculated based on minimum stagnation requirements and how much its value. 3. For solar radiation, the version I have, it doesn't allow me to input a new climate data, despite it allows me only one time when I firstly installed the program. 4. Solar radiation data inputs are monthly, can I enter it hourly based on my data. Kind Regards

Dear Sir/Madam, Can you please clarify whether T*Sol can provide the following services: 1) Identify details of all piping of the system (diameter, length, routing,…) 2) Hydraulic design of the system showing series/parallel connection 3) Control system to be applied 4) Flow velocity inside the different collectors’ pipes 5) Pump selection 6) Valves selection and dimensions 7) Details of flanges, fittings and insulation in the piping system ? Stagnation control system details 9) Radiation data of Egypt Many Thanks

  19. Hi, I need to understand if swimming pool setpoint is reached -> pool temperature above X ° C. Such indication is given only on systems without auxiliary heating, i.w. B 6 or B6.1 along with average pool temp When auxiliary heating is used, such indication is not present. This doesn't depend on eventual setpoint matching of solar and/or aux: no indication is given nor with 1 solar collector or heating element 0,1 kW or lituania climate. I can however get swimming pool temperature by playing on entries to be shown on graphs

  21. I have downloaded the trial version of TSOl and have run a very simple case called A1.DWH system and accepted all the default values for all components. The default value of tank volume is 300 liter and its type is 'Dual coil indirect hot water tank'. When I run the simulation and monitor the results the average tank temperature is 39 degC. Since I want to investigate the effect of tank volume, as I increase the the tank volume to 800 liter and re-run the simulation, the average tank temperature remains at 39 degC. How this is possible? the larger the tank volume the higher the amount of consumption water and the more heat is required to keep its temperature at the consta…

Dear TSol I've an strange problem with my new TSol. When I try to use the standard TSol components and change some of them, I only can do it if I configure TSol in English language. If I try to work with the spanish version I can't change them. Could you please tell me what can be happened? Thanks in advance

In TSOL 5.0 I have used a process system A.13 with undersized storage to collector array and I have noticed energy balance on report does not work out, what is happening here? There is electric boiler backup to process. If I increase the storage amount by 50% the energy balance works out.
