Maciek Posted July 14, 2020 Report Posted July 14, 2020 Does anyone have experience in importing 3d models from pix4dmapper into PV*SOL software? In my case PV*SOL has problems with texture reading. The geometry is fine. Quote
Frido Posted July 14, 2020 Report Posted July 14, 2020 I have tried a lot of things (file types) when importing models from DroneDeploy. Usually, the texture is as washed out for me as it is for you. I have managed to import models with vibrant textures in the past (don’t ask me how, it was luck more than anything). However, once I saved and reopened the 3D Visualization, the texture is either washed out again or (parts of it are) missing completely. Unfortunately I have also found that importing such models increases your chance of crashing PVSOL. Therefore, I do not bother anymore, and would not recommend putting time into this. Quote
Nils1234 Posted October 27, 2023 Report Posted October 27, 2023 Yeah I am facing the same issue in late 2023 --- did you find a solution yet ? In DJI Terra the 3d Model looks very good. But importing it in PVSol is washed out, as if the texture is missing. Quote
developer_fw Posted November 13, 2023 Report Posted November 13, 2023 Hello there! There could be several reasons for missing textures: The bitmap of the texture file is too big. Maximum supported resolution is 2048 by 2048 pixels. The texture file could not be located, since it is located in the wrong path or the path to the texture file (map_Kd) within the *.mtl file is broken. The value of Ks within the *.mtl file does not equal 0 (zero). In this case you should substitute all values within the file. Kind regards Frederik Quote
Martin G. Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 Hi there, I have the same problem. Used Meshroom to create a 3D model out of drone phptographs. I reduced picture size to max. 640 Pixels. Then imported it into Blender to clean up the obj-file und finally exported the cleaned up file as an obj-file again. Imported this in PVSOL and everything was fine for a while. Then I created some areas on the roof to prepare the roof for putting modules on it. But suddenly an PVSOL error appeared. I had to close the application. After restarting PVSOL, the 3D objekt was white (even when it is shown correctly in the preview). I also tried a lot of things but couldn´t solve the problem. I don´t want to make the whole projekt again from beginning and face the same issue then again - It´s a time waste. I bought PVSOL due to the reason of working with 3D-drone-models... I found user entries from 2018 with exactly the same problem (6 years ago!). Is there any solution for this problem?? Quote
Jolle Posted August 7 Report Posted August 7 Hi, there´s a nice programm called meshmixer. This can be used to reduce the data of the Drone Hyperlaps Obj. Then reduce the size of the texture with a program like paintshop to 4096*4096 pixel and then it works. Valentin should work on that low resulution problem. 1 Quote
developer_mo Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 Hello Martin, Hello Jolle, thank you very much for your contribution. I can well understand the disappointment about the slow progress and the crash. We are sorry that the project was not processed stably. In some cases there is still an automatic backup with a usable state. These are in the directory "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\Valentin EnergieSoftware\PVSOL premium 2024\Autosave". You can try this first if you have not already tried it. Thank you for sharing your advice, Jolle. In fact, it often helps to reduce the complexity of the model in a separate editor. We are still working on a complete renewal of our 3d editor to improve the processing of mesh files. If the problem persists, please contact our technical support. You can find their availability hours and contact details here: https://valentin-software.com/en/support/technical-support/ Kind regards Mikio Quote
