Hello CarlSEL

You could import a 3D model of the truss and simulate it.

In case you do know the typical configuration which might get repeated for the whole roof, you could simulate a part of your project in different situations to get a percentage for an estimation of the losses.

Kind regards

what is the process for copying a truss?

Could you specify what you are trying to achieve with PV*SOL?

Unfortunately PV*SOL is no 3D CAD software, which makes constructing delicate objects hard to impossible.
In such cases we recommend using external software before importing the needed 3D objects into PV*SOL for shading analysis.

Hello CarlSEL

Something like this cannot be created within PV*SOL. Have a look into open 3D models, get in contact with the stadium since they might have plans. Or even better: Contact the company which created the truss.

Overall it looks like it might not be worth it to even consider PV. That is why I would recommend creating one part that looks alike to get an estimation value for one section of that truss.

Kind regards

Hi, what software would you recommend to create the 3D software? Also, what software is compatible?

Thanks

Hi CarlSEL,

we can't recommend other 3D software, but other users have reported to have used SketchUp, Blender and the like. If you want to import a 3D model into PV*SOL, we recommend using the obj format.

Hope that helps, kind regards,

Martin
