Planer Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Dear Can I make a calculation with a sun tracking system? Quote
hotline_sf Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 Dear Planer, This will be possible in the 2D planning of the next program versions PV*SOL premium 2016 and PV*SOL 2016. In these version you will be able to select different types of tracking system with different rotation axes. The programs will be released end of November and in December 2015. frederik Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 Will it be possible to do "backtracking" on the single axis tracking arrays? Quote
developer_mh Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 Dear frederik, it is now possible to design and simulate PV arrays with different kinds of tracking systems: Fixed systems (with the option to optimize your inclination angle for a given azimut angle) one-axis north-south (with backtracking, also the option to optimize the inclination angle) one-axis east-west one-axis with vertical rotation axis two-axis If there are any wishes left, let us know Kind regards, Martin Quote
robharris Posted November 15, 2016 Report Posted November 15, 2016 what does surface usage factor refer to thanks Rob Quote
developer_mh Posted November 21, 2016 Report Posted November 21, 2016 Hello Rob, the usage factor determines how close the tracking systems are placed to each other. A usage factor of 1 means, that the distance of one tracker to the next is as long as the module width. The distance is measured from the center of one tracked module to the center of the next. So, a usage factor of 0.5 would indicate that the distance between one module and the next is twice the module width. This factor mainly influences the backtracking behaviour. If modules are very close, they have to be tracked back earlier than modules that have a longer distance between them. Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Kind regards, Martin Quote
robharris Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Martin A diagram would help me understand We have upgraded to Premium 7 and the tracking option has disappeared as an option. is it still a there and hiding? I have been looking at east-west tracking, so north south axis of rotation. with the modules flat (not tilted to the south). several frame companies are claiming 20% yield improvement. with PVwatts i get the improvement but with PVsol and PVsyst I don't. Thanks Rob Quote
developer_mh Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 Hey Rob, here is a quick sketch to illustrate the usage factor: So, the usage factor will be (width of PV) / (distance of trackers). Hope that helps. Also, east-west tracking means that the axis of rotation goes from east to west. If you want to have your trackers rotated around the north-south axis, you would use the north-south tracking option. And no, the tracking option should definitely be there. Did you upgrade to the lastet version (i.e. PV*SOL premium 2017 R5) ? Kind regards, Martin Quote
robharris Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Martin thanks for the diagram I have Premium 7.0 release 5 regards Rob Quote
robharris Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Martin I also have 2017 on a different computer, I haven't realised i had different software on different computers. it is on the 2017 version sorry my mistake. Rob Quote
developer_mh Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Hi Rob, glad you solved the problem! So perhaps you want to update the premium 7.0 R5 version, it is now two years old... And just in case you consider doing this: we have software maintenance offers that ensure you always have the latest version of our software (and databases) without placing financial burdens on you Kind regards, Martin Quote
developer_mh Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 Hi everyone, please see our new tracking videos here: Kind regards, Martin Quote
Dinko Posted September 20, 2021 Report Posted September 20, 2021 Hi, Where is tracking options in pv sol premium 2021? Kind regards! Quote
developer_fw Posted September 22, 2021 Report Posted September 22, 2021 Hi Dinko, on the page PV Modules there is a dropdown-menu to select tracking: Please also refer to our online help: https://help.valentin-software.com/pvsol/2021/en/pages/pv-modules/#tracking Best regards, Frederik Quote
Go green BG Posted June 23, 2022 Report Posted June 23, 2022 Hello! Is there already a simulation for the modules tracking the sun? What the presentation looks like with this type of modules? I want to depict a plot of land with panel following the sun and trace their effectivenes. Thanks in advance! Quote
developer_fw Posted June 27, 2022 Report Posted June 27, 2022 Hi Go green BG, within PV*SOL 2D this is possible, the presentation looks just about the same but it is possible to list the gains from tracking. If you have further question, feel free to ask! Best regards, Frederik Quote
Go green BG Posted July 24, 2023 Report Posted July 24, 2023 Hello again! I'm trying a tracking system on the ground. How do I set the dimensions of an irregularly shaped property and the distance from its boundaries? Is there a video tutorial for a project with trackers? Thanks in advance! Quote
developer_fw Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 Hello Go green BG I am not quite sure if I understand your question correctly, but if you are trying to achieve a sun tracking system within PhotoPlan I must disappoint you. This is not possible. Kind regards Frederik Quote

Това е невъзможно. Сърдечни поздрави Фредерик I am trying to stake this type of tracker (from the picture). Is it possible for pv sol to arrange the panels on a property with set dimensions? And again I ask: is there a video tutorial for a 2D project with trackers? Quote
developer_fw Posted August 7, 2023 Report Posted August 7, 2023 Hello Go green BG 45 minutes ago, Go green BG said: Is it possible for pv sol to arrange the panels on a property with set dimensions? Yes. You do not have to paint a certain area since the calculations for 2D are not dependent on any positioning within a space. So I´d say your settings are correct. 46 minutes ago, Go green BG said: is there a video tutorial for a 2D project with trackers? I am afraid there is none, no. Kind regards Frederik Quote
Go green BG Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 Is there already an option for tracker construction in 3d? Quote
developer_mo Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 Hi Go green BG, at the moment there are no plans to implement tracker construction in the 3D Designer. Kind regards Mikio Quote
HamishL Posted July 15 Report Posted July 15 Hello I have scheme design using N/S Single axis trackers and note there is now more data in the Bi-Facial modelling. I searched but cannot find the reference points used of the "Shading by Assembly system". Default is at 10%, how is this calculated? Quote
developer_fw Posted August 7 Report Posted August 7 Hello HamishL Sorry for the belated response, your request slipped through. On 7/15/2024 at 11:49 PM, HamishL said: Default is at 10%, how is this calculated? As far as I'm concerned it is not calculated. It is our default assumption of shading due to the mounting system. Depending on the system you do use to incline your modules, feel free to adapt the fraction of irradiation which reaches the backside. Kind regards Frederik Quote
