Hi.

On the flat top roof in the attached image I want to place the panels directed to the south.

Now I just get them lined up with the edge of the roof to the southeast.

I there any solution here?

Hi Janne,

for mounting systems you can enter the orientation of the modules with respect to a reference edge of your choice:

While this is the method I would recommend, there is also an option to set the reference edge for the module coverage (i.e. without mounting system). In order to choose the reference edge you want, right click on the extruded building, select edit, and then set the reference edge:

Then, when you cover the roof with modules, they will be aligned to the edge you chose as reference.

Hope that helps, kind regards,

Martin

Hi!

When I do this for an inclined roof the inclination automatically follows the reference edge. I am working on an architect roof where the roof is skewed, hence I want to change the reference edge. But then the inclination is changed. Is there a way to lock the inclination to a certain edge?

Dear Kristian,

Thank you for your inquiry.

You can only specify one reference edge per roof (not multiple). If you want to define multiple PV arrays with different orientations on a roof, you specify the new orientation relative to the reference edge. If the roof has a slope, you specify different slope angles for the different PV arrays if necessary. PV*SOL will always calculate the resulting slope for each PV array.
