Hello, i have one maybe stupid question but i cant explain it :(

What are the difference between MPP configurations - MPP1, MPP2, MPP3 ...... MPP10 and MPP1+2+3++++10?

In first case i have 10 strings with 18 pv modules and in second i have 12 strings (second one is auto selected from the program). Inverter is Huawei SUn2000-100KTL - M1 and the modules are Jinko JKM460M. When i try to make 2 string in parallel on 1 MPP i exceed 26A.

Hi Tazar,

some inverters have the possibility to interconnect the MPP trackers. The inputs then share power electronics inside the inverter which can sometimes be of advantage. For instance, the allowed max current can be higher. We call that parallel operation.

The Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M1 however doesn't have that possiblity:

So I don't know how you set up th examples that you mentioned. Also, if I try to connect 18 PV modules of type Jinkop JKM460M to one MPP tracker of the SUN2000-100KTL, the maximum voltage is exceeded.

Could you provide screenshots of the two configurations that you want to learn more about? This would be really helpful in that case.

Kind regards,

Martin

That's really strange because I can't get it to do that config for me either. The inverter specs clearly state that the MPP trackers cannot be interconnected.

What version of the inverter information are you using, maybe the data was wrong in a previous version?

@developer_mh I think that the voltage is fine. It's outside of the MPPT parameter (1000V) for me but within the "max input voltage" (1100V). It would also depend on the location, azimuth and tilt of the solar panels since PVSOL per default calculates the open circuit voltage at -10°C and 1000W/m2 if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Tazar,

thanks a lot for the project. The inverter that you are using in that project is version 3 of the Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M1, with the following property:

I guess this was an errorneous input by the Huawei colleagues. You should use the most current version, version 6.

Hope that helps,

Martin

Ok, and what exactly means interconnected? How the installer will define this connection? Does the inverter itself understand that it is in such a mode or is it set from somewhere? What is the scheme of connecting the strings in this situation? I guess the situation is the same in the attached photo?

Hi Tazar,

the parallel operation mode must be supported by the inverter and is defined by the installer upon installation. How exactly this is achieved will be different across inverter models, but as an example see this screenshot taken from a manual of the Fronius Gen24 inverter:

grafik.png

Taken from here, page 63:

https://www.fronius.com/~/downloads/Solar Energy/Operating Instructions/42%2C0426%2C0419%2CEN.pdf

In this example, you connect your two module areas to the inverter as if they were one (only one plus and one minus cable going to the inverter, using only one DC inlet), but then, as a installer, you bridge the input on a second DC inlet. In this case, this allows for a double maximum current.

Hope that clarifies the matter a bit, kind regards,

Martin

Witam

Hi Elektroinstalator,

here is the deepl.com translation of your inquiry:

Hello

I know that the topic of MPP has already been mentioned, but in our case the program shows MPP1+2, which means a parallel connection for 3x16 modules, so shows the program.

We connect to the Sofar 15000TL to the first MPPT input on the left, which is common with the next MC4 input and the inverter does not start but the voltages agree.

I am not sure if I can help with this problem as it seems hardware related. But voltage wise, 16 modules of around 40 V (= 640 V) should be enough to get the inverter running. The MPP voltage range of the 15000TL is between 350 and 960 V, so from that perspective everything looks fine.

Here is an example configuration check for 3 x 16 Trina TSM-410-DEG15MC.20 modules:

Hope that helps, kind regards,

Martin

When I was looking for what PV1+PV2 means in pvsol, I ended up here. Based on the Fronius example, it is also clear to me how it should work. In my case, I have a Huawei Sun 2000 And I simply can't find anything on the internet about whether and with which settings the wiring is possible with this inverter. Thanks for the help

Dear Alex182,

Thank you for your inquiry.

You can see which inverters are approved for parallel operation in our inverter database. Unfortunately, the MPP trackers of the Huawei SUN2000 inverters are not approved for parallel operation.

Thank you for the answer.

The Huawei SUN 2000-6ktl-m0 inverter According to the database, it is designed for this. I am also suggested the connection MPP 1+2

But I can't find anything about it in Huawei's documentation. Perhaps you have information similar to the example with Fronius.

Thank you

Dear Alex182,
You are correct: According to our database, the Huawei SUN 2000-6ktl-m0 is designed for parallel operation of the MPPT, but the data sheet and the manual do not provide any information about this. We will contact the manufacturer and check whether our database entry is correct.
