Waqar Ahmad Posted May 18, 2020 Report Posted May 18, 2020 how to calculate cable size and lenght in PVSOL Quote
developer_mh Posted May 26, 2020 Report Posted May 26, 2020 Dear Waqar Ahmad, the cable length is something that you enter in PV*SOL. The cable size can then be calculated so that the cable losses at STC (Standard Test Conditions) are below 1%. Go to the cable page and activate "detailed" view. Then you see these inputs: Hope that helps, kind regards, Martin Quote
Go green BG Posted June 22, 2022 Report Posted June 22, 2022 Hi! Is this the right place to set the lenght of the cable? I am ready with the other processes, but this wiring step stop my calculations for the system. I want to use the program to calculate the cost of the entire instalation - panels, cables, etc. Is this possible? Quote
developer_fw Posted June 27, 2022 Report Posted June 27, 2022 Hi Go green BG, when you choose In detail in the upper left corner, the menus change and you are able to define cable lengths. After entering the cables they are listed on the page Plans and parts list under Parts list next to modules and inverters. At the moment the calculation cannot be done within PV*SOL but it is possible to export this list as character separated values for further usage in spreadsheet programs. I hope this helps! Abdullah Irfan Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 Dear Martin, Please explain: Even though cable size is calculated for <1% losses, but cable size should also be compliant to maximum rated/ current carry capacity of cable being selected: 100kW Inverter is rated for 145Amps 3phase at STC. pvsol calculated cable size to be 16mmsq. for 10meter length (0.76% loss) , 16mmsq has max. current carrying capacity to be 56amps. Which is NOT feasible design, should be at least 70 sqmm. Please guide/explain design functioning for the above. Regards, Abdullah Quote
developer_mh Posted August 18, 2022 Report Posted August 18, 2022 Hi Abdullah, thank you for your valuable input. Could you tell me which inverter you are referring to? In order to investigate the problem, it would be very helpful if you could provide a project file. You can send it to me here in the forum via private message, thank you. Kind regards, Martin Quote
