Hi all,

I am trying to create a system with 2no batteries SolarEdge "PCS050 50 kW + CCS-OU-20 (102.4 kWh" 

there is a lot of confusion about the number of batteries in the final presentation, and i was hoping for you to shed some light in this.

My question is: How many batteries does the above system has?

I know that, Pvsol divides the number of inverters, for example if you want to add a SE 50k inverter to the system, you need to add 2no SE 50k inverters to get the effect of a 50k inverter, which leads to a confusion with the clients sometimes. Is this the same case?

Is this configuration, despite showing 4no batteries, in reality 2no batteries of 102.4kWh?

Thank you for your inquiry.

The above system has two batteries.

A battery system consists of the battery inverter, the batteries and the charge control. Charge control and battery inverter are usually combined in one device. Depending on the system, a PV inverter with MPP tracker can also be integrated, but these are defined in PV*SOL as independent devices on the page Inverters.

Basically, a hybrid system consists of two data sets in PV*SOL. Firstly, the PV inverter, which is responsible for converting DC to AC, is created in the database under the heading ‘Inverter’ and selected there for interconnection with the PV modules. The part of the hybrid inverter that is responsible for charging and discharging the batteries is defined under ‘Battery systems’. In PV*SOL, a battery system always consists of the charging/discharging unit (battery inverter or charge controller) and the batteries.
 
In the case of hybrid systems, the name of the hybrid inverter is usually listed again in the designation of the battery system. This clearly indicates which DC-coupled battery system must be selected for the inverter used. The battery systems then have the DC intermediate coupling type.

SolarEdge has their own designer and you get acces to the C&I BESS if you pass some kind of exam (Dutch engineer who did it here).
Keep in mind this CSS outdoor is AC-coupled! 

For the rest PV sol is much more detailed: for example datapoint in SE designer is 1hr which is not sufficient imo for peakshaving. For any SE system specifically I would go for a design trough their tool in the first place and later at 1min timeframe in PV sol for example.

Just look at 'Charge at the beginning' which is 369kWh which is 4 x [0,9 x 102kWh] (90% of capacity is actually useful). Therefore it is at least 4 BESS cabinets of 102kWh with in this case also 4 x 50kW AC-coupled (!!!) inverters.

If you want 2x50kW inverters with 4 BESS cabinet I suggest you copy the configuration and double the kWh's per 50kW inverter.
