I have been using a combination of WebODM, 3DF Zephyr, and Metashape for the last 2 years. 3D visualization has always seemed to be very particular and finicky. Textures do not display, 3D visualization freezes, systems lags, and other glitches. The PC is not slow by any means with a  i7-10750H processor, 128GB of DDR4 RAM, 4TB NVME SSD. It seems that PV*SOL is limiting itself to how many system resources that it will consume. I am trying to get our 3D modeling and photogrammetry process to be smooth and work reliably. We have invested in a commercial hexacopter with a 61MP full frame camera and RTK that we will be implementing soon, so I am wondering if there is a general consensus on the optimal settings and file type for 3D models?

In general we do recommend to keep it as simple as possible and as detailed as necessary.
We do know customers tend to ask for the most detailed renderings possible which might not be necessary at all from the technical perspective.

We did improve the 3D environment so it will be able to load models faster and speeded up the shading analysis. Textures will still be limited, though. This improved version (2024 R5) gets approved at the moment and will be released within the next two weeks.
I recommend an update if possible and hope that our improvements are noticeable.

Kind regards
Frederik
