I've created 3d buildings in SketchUp and imported them, do I then need to build another 3d building in PVSOL to be able to activate that area? Thanks

Hello Connar Bentley,

yes, you do need to define mounting surfaces.
You could continue with the following:

1. Let PV*SOL determine the mounting surfaces for you

Open the Edit dialogue of one building via the context menu (right mouse click):

Let PV*SOL try to determine mounting surfaces.
I recommend to also use the imported object as terrain model in order to avoid transparency and flickering while working with it:

After closing the dialogue you could activate a mounting surface and continue with placing modules

2. Paint the mounting surfaces onto your models yourself

Kind regards
