Couloireric
In TSOL 5.0 I have used a process system A.13 with undersized storage to collector array and I have noticed energy balance on report does not work out, what is happening here? There is electric boiler backup to process. If I increase the storage amount by 50% the energy balance works out.
developer_ur
Hi Couloireric could you please write down the terms belonging to the balance, from your point of view? Did you take the tank losses into account? What collector size, process heat demand and tank volume did you use? You can also attach your project (*.tsproj) file. Kind regards
Couloireric
Yes, should have sent this. Tank losses are taken into account. Is the unbalance due to undersized storage because in reality there will be no storage but there is an electric boiler backup to the process flow that turns on if solar can not supply the 135 F temps needed ? Thank you for your response. Best Regards, Eric AztecSolar-UCDavis_Biodigester-TSOLreport-var6Revision-9-18.pdf
developer_ur
Hi Eric, our simulation is based on intervals with a length of 6 minutes. If some temperatures or volume flows change to abruptly, we reduce the interval to 1 minute. In your scenario you have large volume flows. If the tank's volume is exchanged completedly within a simulation intervall (6 or 1 minute), we will get balance errors. The system A13 is not suited to simulate with such a small tank.
