ChrisL Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 What is the correct way to use the red star option in the 3D inverter configuration and what effect does it have ? Quote
ChrisL Posted October 31, 2014 Author Report Posted October 31, 2014 If I choose Solar Edge optimisers, the red Star will affect the results so should it be used in this instance ? Quote
hotline_tm Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Hello Chris,  The option with the star icon can be used for planning with optimizers, e.g. from the company Tigo. When you select the red star icon then the software assume that you have an optimizer on every module. This means every module is working in the optimum MPP and you don’t have losses due to potentially different MPP tracking ranges. The losses due to mismatch are also set to zero in the simulation.  It is a bit different if SolarEdge Power Optimizers should be used. Here we have a special solution were we have combined the characteristics of the SolarEdge Power Optimizers and the SolarEdge inverters in one device. In the planning you have to select the Optimizer and you can simulate the correct yield with it. The inverters don’t play a role in the simulation but of course you have to keep them in mind for the installation on the roof. This solution is tested by SolarEdge.  Your support team. Quote
developer_mh Posted December 18, 2017 Report Posted December 18, 2017 Hi, just a short update: In the meanwhile we fully overhauled the design and simulation of PV plants with power optimizers, both module integrated (like Maxim) and external (like SolarEdge or Tigo). It is available in PV*SOL premium 2018. https://www.valentin-software.com/en/news/product-news/new-pvsol-premium-2018-import-3d-models Martin Quote
