Kate Posted November 4, 2021 Report Posted November 4, 2021 Hi all, in the 2D simulation there is a setting "Floating PV". If I compare two exactly same systems, where I use the "Floating PV" setting for one and the "Elevated free-standing" setting for the other, the result is an additional yield of 0.4% for floating PV. Unfortunately, I do not find which differences were made for this. Can you tell me which assumptions are changed for floating PV? Many thanks in advance!  Quote
Jimmy Posted November 4, 2021 Report Posted November 4, 2021 Hi Kate, Most of it comes from the difference in temperature. You can check the more detailed analysis yourself on "Results - PV systems energy balance" Â Â Or if you want to really deep dive into it you can export the hourly values for everything under "Presentation - simulation results"Â Â Quote
developer_mh Posted November 5, 2021 Report Posted November 5, 2021 Hi Kate, as Jimmy pointed out already, the module temperature really is the difference here. See our help pages for details: https://help.valentin-software.com/pvsol/2022/en/calculation/pv-modules/module-temperature/ As you can see, there is only 2K difference in comparison to "Mounted - Open Space". In addition you could adjust the albedo values in order to account for the higher reflectivity of the water surface in comparison to the standard value of 0.2, which is suitable e.g. for grass. But as you can see in this table here https://help.valentin-software.com/pvsol/2022/en/calculation/irradiation/ground-reflection/ the albedo is not significantly higher than 0.2, and is also strongly dependent on the inclination angle of the sun rays. So we don't adjust those values automatically, only the temperature difference at 1000 W/m², as mentioned above. Hope that helps, kind regards, Martin Quote
