As it turns out I misunderstood the inverter selection screen: you need to select a checkbox, just pressing on the device that you want and proceeding isn't enough.

I have a fairly simple PV setup that I'm trying to connect to inverters: After picking the inverter that I want to use I let PV*Sol work out how to connect the panels. However, its results are not satisfactory: This is an ~800 kWp system using 110 kW inverters. It shouldn't take more than 8 of them. And definitely not 15, There are no suggestions with fewer inverters, others use 16 or 17, How do I get the software to use the inverters more efficiently? Nothing in the settings seems to be related or have any effect.
