Over the past few days I’ve been working on configuring a stand-alone system in PVSol, and I must admit it hasn’t been easy to figure out the logic. I think I’m starting to understand it now, but I still have doubts and questions about certain points. I want to design a stand-alone system based on the Morningstar SureSine inverter (1250 W, 48 Vdc) and a TriStar MPPT 45A charge controller. When I select Stand Alone PV System as the project type, I still see “AC Mains” displayed on the screen. I don’t quite understand this—shouldn’t we be working in stand-alone mode? Or does it simply indicate that the stand-alone system provides an AC 230 V single-phase output? What if I want to design a stand-alone system that only has a DC load circuit—how would that be handled? As I understand it, PVSol treats an inverter as a charge controller. So I would need to enter the Morningstar TriStar MPPT 45A under Inverters in the database? PVSol then only considers the DC side of the inverter for simulation, while the AC side is ignored—is that correct? My intended configuration is two strings with two PV modules each, connected to the Morningstar TriStar MPPT 45A. This is normally done via a combiner box, keeping the Voc within the 150 Vdc limit of the TriStar MPPT 45A, since it only has one MPPT input. However, I can’t find a way to model this in PVSol. I’ve read that PVSol doesn’t support this setup and instead forces you to use one string of four modules in series, which would push the Voc above 150 Vdc. That would mean I’m required to use a larger Morningstar charge controller (600 Vdc). Is that correct? The Morningstar Off-Grid Inverter SureSine 1250 W 48 Vdc should be entered under Battery Inverters in the PVSol database, right? And of course, the batteries must be entered under the Battery section of the database. I’ve configured the system this way, but I keep getting the error message: “Simulation not completed as the battery could not supply the required energy. Please verify configuration and increase the PV power or battery capacity if necessary.” The consumption is about 3.5 kWh per 24 hours. I’ve set the PV capacity to 3.2 kWp and the storage capacity to 19.2 kWh, which should be more than sufficient for such a small system. I deliberately oversized them because I kept getting this error message. I hope someone can help me with the above design—what am I doing wrong? Kind regards,

Ok well thank you very much for the answer. I actually didn't want to believe the difference between Growatt and Solis is that big. But actually the data is correct right? Once again thanks a lot Kind regards

Ok I will do that, many thx

"Hello, I have a question regarding the following. I have designed two nearly identical systems in PVSOL. Both have 4.4 kWp of PV capacity, the same battery type with 19.2 kWh storage, and both use a hybrid inverter: a Growatt SPH3600TL BL-UP and a Solis S6-EH1P3.6K-L-PLUS. There is such a large difference in battery losses that I don’t understand the cause. Who can help me? I am uploading a spreadsheet with all PVSOL input values for the battery, the PV inverter, and the battery system. With the Growatt configuration, the loss is 819 kWh/year, while for the Solis, it is only 233 kWh/year." Growatt Solis I hope someone can help me out on this. Many thx Kind regards Data Solis and Growatt PV Inverter - battery system and battery.xlsx

New Made Company doesn't show up in list box. I've made a new company. This company appears when I add new PV Modules and Inverters but when I want to add new batteries the company doesn't appear. I add new batteries by copying a battery of an other company. In the copied version I want to change the company. Not possible because the new company doesn't appear in the list box Who can help me out on this? Many thx

I can't make choices in the dropdown menu's in PV Sol. When I click the arrow the dropdown menu appears but when I move the mouse arrow there the menu get's messy and disappears. The same kind of problem occurs when I want to hide / unhide columns in the PV module database view. When I click the right mouse button the list of choices appears but when I move the mouse arrow there it disappears. Please help Many thanks

Since two days I m encountering problems while creating a new location for meteo data. The map is not visible anymore. See the picture including the error message, sorry I don t know how to insert a picture. The map shows error messages like: Exception. The external server bounched error 403 Can anyone help me out please? We are sorry wwe don't have imagery at this zoonlevel for this region Thanks in advance Regards Johan

Hello, I've a question about the settings for a simulation of the shadow. All my projects are in Indonesia What are the settings I must use for the: Solar Azimuth? Solar Elevation Angle? Or where can I find these values on the internet? Many thanks! Regards Johan

Hi, I ve a question about making a copy of an object. If I select the object I want to copy and click the right mouse click I get the following screen. But whatever I click I don t get a copy. Nothing is happening. I tried with with "make multiple copies" on and off What Am I doing wrong? Hope you can help me out Thanks in advance Regards Johan

Yes! That worked out. Thanks a lot Martin!

Hello, I'run into a little problem with the module configuration module. The roof should be configured into 3 strings of 19 modules. And that is going ok, only the strings are not in one sequence. One string is 18 PV Modules and 1 is located on a different position. Off course thats not what we want. It looks weird in the planning and also it's weird for the cable plan. Can you please help me out how to fix this? Thanks a lot in advance Regards Johan

Hi Martin, Thanks for your fast reply. 100% clear to me Regards Johan

Hello, I'm a PVSol Premium 7.5 R4 user and I have a question about exporting cable plans I saw in a post in this forum that it should be possible at the plan page. See attached picture. In this picture there is a side menu called Circuit Plan - Dimensioning Plan. This seems to be very usefull but in my version of PVSol I don t have that possibility of the side menu. See attached file Could you please help me out on this? Thanks a lot Regards Johan
